This week, Mr Evans’ Year 8 class were “switched on” to learning about renewable energy. These young power houses built and tested their own wind turbines to investigate the impact of a special design of wind turbine on the amount of electricity generated.
The design, which can be easily constructed from simple, cost-effective materials, provides a possibility of supplying electrical power to many regions of the Third World – a shocking discovery for our young scientists. This electrifying lesson on the need to find viable alternatives to fossil fuels created a real buzz.
Who knows, maybe amongst us there are some budding Nobel Prize winners who will transform the future of energy.
