Our aim is to ensure pupils enjoy their learning in this vital subject. We have a creative approach to teaching and learning.
Our exam results continue to rise year-on-year, and for the first time last year pupils gained two GCSE qualifications – one in Mathematics and one in Statistics.
In Summer 2011 we achieved 79% A-C in Maths & 74% A-C in Stats, and we are on target to beat this record for Summer 2012.
Ben Dixon in 2012 Year 9 student gained A* in GCSE Maths.

Students are continually assessed through classwork and regular homework. In addition, they do specially designed tests at the end of each term which enable us to assess each individual's ability with a good degree of accuracy. Students sit their maths SAT in Year 9.
Homework is set every week by worksheet, or by elearning using MyMaths.co.uk, an interactive maths site that gives instant feedback to pupils. Every pupil is issued with their own login and password that they can use to access their own MyMaths account.
Students are set according to their ability. This setting is based on both their Maths SAT result from Key Stage 2 and testing undertaken at the beginning of Year 7. After this, we monitor each individual's progress carefully on a six weekly basis and make any adjustments as necessary throughout Key Stage 3.
There are two levels of entry at GCSE:

Pupils are usually given at least two attempts at the GCSE, through our early entry policy. The 1st attempt can be as early as year 9. The maths examination is 100% examination.
The maths content at both levels of entry consists of four key areas:
Revision sessions are available regularly after school and in school holidays.
